Though WHO has officially declared in 2016 that Sri lanka is free from two major parasitic diseases namely malaria and filariasis, clinically diagnosed amoebic liver abscesses still remains as a public health problem in Northern Sri Lanka. In this book, the research work carried out by the author for three years in Jaffna district (Northern Sri Lanka) related to amoebic liver abscesses is presented.

Dr Selvam Kannathasan, senior lecturer, is attached to the Dept. of Parasitology Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. His research interest is in Medical Parasitology, particularly amoebiasis.
